How will the inclusion of music enhance the overall lesson and the other subject matter?
Students will be able to recall the song when deciding if words are synonyms or antonyms based on the definitions given in the video.

Teaching Process: (Introductory Activity, Body of Lesson, Closing Activity)

Introductory Activity:
1.      Put synonym and antonym PDF on the board.
2.      T: Can anyone define these two terms?
3.      If the student is correct they get to write the definition on the board, if they are incorrect they call on another student.

Body of Lesson:
1.      Teacher will show class video on antonyms and synonyms.
a.       After each song the teacher will ask the following questions:
                                                              i.      T: What were some words that you recall from the song?
ii.      T: Can someone tell me how the words were related to one another?
b.      After each song has been played the teacher will ask:
                                                              i.      T: Can anyone tell me what the definition of an antonym is? Synonym?
ii.      T: What are some other words that we can think of that might be synonyms or antonyms to the words in the song?
2.      Antonym Annie and Synonym Sam
a.       Pass out worksheet packets to students.
b.      Teacher presents instructions to students then posts on board:
                                                              i.      Choose 7 different colored crayons. With these crayons you are going to color the partnered words. After you have colored the words you will cut them out and paste them around their corresponding character. Write the definition of antonym or synonym on the corresponding character’s chalkboard. You may also color the character on the worksheet.
3.      Song Creation
a.       Students may name their own character that corresponds to either antonym or synonym.
b.      Students will create a song that students will perform to a small group.
c.       Students will write a rough draft of their song on their own piece of paper. They can write their final draft on the provided paper and include a drawing of their character and a pair of synonyms or antonyms.
d.      After students have finished their songs, the teacher will assign groups of four.
e.       In these groups the students will share their song. After they share their song they will ask their classmates to point out whether they chose to use antonyms or synonyms and to identify the words used.

Closing Activity:
1.      Wrap up lesson and ask:
a.       T: What did you guys learn today?
b.      T: Can someone define the word synonym? Antonym?
c.       T: Someone give me an example of each.
d.      T: Is cat and dog an example of synonym or antonym?
e.       T: Why do you think this is important to learn?

Assessments:
I will be assessing whether the students understand the definition and examples of antonyms and synonyms by reading their songs and grading their worksheets. My goals for the worksheet are that the students will correctly color and place the words on the correct character. Students will gain the knowledge of knowing the definition of antonym and synonym and using this to identify similar or conflicting words.
·         Is student correctly coloring the synonym/antonym pairings?
·         Are the definitions written correctly and on the correct worksheet?

·         Is the worksheet done completely and neatly?
